English Pleasure

The English pleasure horse should exhibit a smooth, comfortable ride without excessive action or animation. With a natural head set not to high not to low, not nosing out or flexed at the poll, with a nice head shake.
If it's not shaking, it's not walkin.

The horse should be semi collected & ridden with a loose rein.

Excessive speed is supposed to be penalized!

Proper English attire for the rider is required & proper English tack for the horse.

Enter the ring at a flat walk & when the gait is closed the Judge shall call for gaits in the order of
Flat Walk, Running Walk, Flat Walk, Canter. Working in both directions of the ring. Riders must ride with light reins. Extremely tight curb chains will be penalized.

The horse will be judged on the true pleasure quality & performance of the horse & neatness of the rider.

Neatness & taste in attire is encouraged & should be a consideration of the Judge in final Judging.

Backing in the line up is required.
