Western Pleasure

The western pleasure horse should exhibit a smooth, comfortable ride without excessive action or animation. With a natural head set not to high not to low, not nosing out or flexed at the poll, with a nice head shake.

If it's not shaking, it's not walkin.

The horse should be semi collected & ridden with a loose rein.

In western pleasure horses are reversed away from the rail.

Romal reins may be carried in the free hand, with at least 16 inches of spacing between the reining hand & the Romal hand.
The Romal shall not be used forward of the cinch or used to signal or cue the horse.
When using the Romal, a hand should be around the reins, not a finger between the reins.

While the horse is in motion the riders hands should stay clear of the horse & saddle. The Judge may call for a halt while on the rail to test for quietness. Your hose must stand quietly & back with head in normal position, mouth closed. At the Judges discretion you may be asked to back clear of the line up & do a 360 degree neck rein, left or right, it's your decision.

Proper western attire for the rider  & western tack for the horse are required.
