Proper Western Show Ring Attire

Western type equipment must be used
In all western events it is mandatory to wear the appropriate attire.
This would include a Long Sleeved Shirt with Collar
Western hat
Cowboy boots.
Helmets are allowed. Hats held with a stampede string are allowed.

Chaps & western coats are optional.

The hat or helmet must be on the riders head when the exhibitor enters the arena. A 5 second penalty will be assessed if the hat or helmet is not on the exhibitor's person for the entire time the exhibitor is in the arena.

Approved leg protection:
Splint Boots, Skid Boots, Polo Wrap, or Non-Weighted Rubber Bell Boots; are also accepted as proper leg protection in: TWH Over Fences, Barrels, Poles, Basic Reining, Trail Obstacle & Western Riding Classes.

Use of hackamore or other type of bridle is the optional choice of the contestant: however, the timer or judge may prohibit the use of bits or equipment that he may consider severe.

Martingales & tie downs are only allowed in:
TWH Over Fences, Barrels & Pole Bending

Cavesons, whips, crops, or bat of any kind are prohibited.

Australian Stock Saddles are not approved as either English or Western tack.

Silver mounted equipment shall not count over good working equipment.

Barefoot horses may be shown, however, judges must disqualify lame or tender-footed horses.

There shall be time out to replace a thrown shoe.

Entries shall be plain shod. Hoof-bands & welded clips are prohibited.
Action devices & communication devices are prohibited
