Carbonado
Farm is proud to present NFF Echo's Blue Moon. After
having started a heritage gelding, NFF Wilson's Dan
Oliver, I realized I had found the type of walking horse I
had been looking for. I soon purchased NFF Echo's Blue
Moon, a full brother to Dan Oliver, in hopes that Moon
would be as natural and biddable as Dan Oliver.
My
expectations were exceeded. After two short sessions with
Moon in the corral, he was ready to run our bird hunting
dogs. On his first outing, Moon was exposed to numerous
dogs and puppies running all about, birds flushing around
him, gunfire, and other horses. He took it all in stride,
as if he was born for it.
Moon is a Black Sabino
that will mature between 15 and 15.1 hands.
Moon has a completely natural flat and running walk with
lots of headshake. He is very surefooted, and always
ready to canter when asked. Moon is extremely
affectionate, just loving to be scratched in his special
spot at the base of his neck. He is calm and friendly
with young children.
Moon's dam, Red Bud's
Angel (deceased) contributed the Jab Faulkner breeding
descending from Lucy Sue's Angel, and going back to
Black Angel.
Black Angel was the 1943 World Grand
Champion. In the old Blue Ribbon magazines, Black
Angel's ads had a slogan that said "This mare can walk!"
Moon's pedigree also has old bloodline stock such as
Hunter's Allen, Merry Boy, and Top Wilson. His grandsire
is Red Bud's Rascal, who had ten foundation "F" horses
on his papers.
Moon's sire,
Echo's Star Gray Wilson, is one of Paige's
Echo's sons, tracing back to the rare Red Eagle F-61,
this non-Allen line offers genetic diversity and hybrid
vigor. Paige's Echo's dam, Pinky Lu, was sired by
Wilson's Merry Boy GG, blending the famed Merry Boy line
with a full sister to Miller's Wilson Allen, one of the
nation's leading sires of flatshod show walkers in the
late forties. The dam of Echo's Star Gray Wilson was
sired by Star Gray Wilson, a linebred Wilson's Allen
horse that stood at the stud farm of Jimmie Gray, one of
the leading trainers in the late thirties and forties,
and rider of several flatshod World Champions. Star
Gray's dam traces back to Sir Maugray, a rare bloodline,
from Auburn Gray's breeding program. Star Gray's sire,
Paige's Echo, had eight foundation "F" horses on his
papers, his dam had three "F" horses on her papers.
These are true Heritage Walking Horses. The Echo bred
horses are known for their sensibility, willingness,
work ethic, and quiet dispositions.
Moon's sire contributes 30% Wilson's Allen bloodline,
rarity in this day and age, especially since the 30%
Wilson's Allen only has ONE line back to Midnight Sun.
On the videotape, "A Look Into the Past", Dr. Bob Womack
says Wilson's Allen, in his opinion, was one of the
finest stallions of all time. He sired natural, loose
moving foals. Star Gray exhibits the looseness of gait
that Wilson's Allen was known for. Moon's pedigree also
goes back five times to the Grey John horses, through
his sire.
Research done on Society Man's offspring in 2003 showed
out of all the sons he produced, only ONE, Paige's Black
Boy, had sons who had sons who are still in production
today. Of the Paige's Black Boy sons, only one son has
sons who are still in production, and that son is
Paige's Echo, the grandsire of my stallion.
To appreciate how rare
this bloodline is when it comes to an unbroken top line
on the pedigree, of males to carry on the Society Man
name, there are less than a dozen stallions out there in
production today, NFF Echo's Blue Moon being one of
them.
