MIDNIGHT'S POWDER PUFF is one of
the rarest of mares within the TWH breed. She is sired by one of the
few living grandsons of Midnight Sun. In addition to that, her
grandsire, Sun's Midnight Mark, was bred and owned by the same
person for the entire thirty years of his life, part of a serious
breeding program focusing on proven bloodlines rather than show ring
fads.
A mare is only as good as the
strength of her female lines, and in this as well, POWDER PUFF is
the result of several strong traditions. Her sire's dam came from
the breeding program developed by the Faulkner Brothers of Lincoln
County, Tennessee, prior to the formation of TWHBEA in 1935. PUFF
herself represents the third generation of mares owned and bred
within the Taylor breeding program. Her dam, Ruby Roan, has served
well under saddle as an excellent and dependable trail mare. Ruby's
mother , Echo's Merry Lu proved herself in the breeding shed as one
of the top daughters sired by Paige's Echo during his limited tenure
in the stud. Danny Taylor acquired Merry Lu's dam from Jab Faulkner
of Lincoln County. Lucy Sue's Angel was bred by Faulkner, as was her
dam Lucy Sue, and many of the other mares within her background. The
Faulkner Brothers of Lincoln County were breeding Tennessee Walking
Horses during the earliest days of the registry, and son/nephew Jab
continued this tradition until the early ninties.
MIDNIGHT'S POWDER PUFF is an
attractive filly with excellent true walking gaits, a unique
pedigree from proven producers, and that maximal sabino color which
can add a shimmer of chrome to almost any stallion's get. Size,
gait, and strength of pedigree in a sweet-tempered package. What
more could a person want?
